They were transferred from the plant site in Sacul to a hospital in nearby Nacogdoches and then to the burn unit at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Fagen, based in Minnesota, did not release names of the injured workers. Their condition was not immediately known.
Fagen officials did not immediately respond to Recharge for comment on the accident or the investigation underway. It was not known how long the plant site will remain closed or if this would affect the construction timetable. The plant will be one of the largest for biomass power in the US when completed.
A spokesman at Southern Company , parent of Southern Power, a wholesale power supplier in the US Southeast, tells Recharge that the Nacogdoches Generating Facility is scheduled to begin operation this summer. All power from the plant has been contracted for 20 years to Austin Energy, a municipal utility in the Texas capital.
