Alstom to supply Le Havre with 20 Citadis trams for €42 million

The Metropolitan Community of Le Havre (CODAH), in France, today announced
its choice of Alstom to supply 20 Citadis tramsets for its first tramline. The contract is
worth a total of approximately €42 million. In response to the aesthetic choices
made by the CODAH, Alstom has created an external livery and internal layout
with flowing lines and architectural references that will help integrate the new
tramsets into Le Havres environment.

Alstoms Citadis trams, which were designed to offer optimal onboard quality of life
and maximum passenger comfort, feature platform-height floors, air conditioning,
a video-surveillance system and onboard audio and visual information. Each
tramset will be 32 metres in length and can accommodate more than 200
passengers (equal to the capacity of three buses ).

Citadis helps protect the environment as well: not only are the units 98%
recyclable, but their composite materials and improved traction system mean
they consume 10% less energy than a traditional tram – one-quarter the energy of
a bus and one-tenth that of a car (in Kwh per seated passenger). Citadis also helps
improve a citys quality of life by generating one-quarter the noise of motor traffic
(about five decibels less).

The Le Havre metropolitan area will be receiving trams that have proven their
value on the market, as Citadis tramways now set the global performance
benchmark. To date, a total of 1,382 Citadis trams have been ordered by 33 cities
around the world, while a further 60 have tramway projects in the pipeline.
